Breathing Meditation
|
 |
Holding the breath and forgetting to breath is
all too common. Breathing itself is one of the body's primary modes of expelling toxins and replenishing itself
with oxygen to invigorate and cleanse all cells and systems of the body. The mere practice of drawing attention to the
breath is extremely beneficial for regulating emotions and for general health. Conscious breathing enhances the functioning
of the nervous system helping the body and mind relax and regenerate. Breathing
meditation is a technique that has been practiced for centuries and is commonly associated with eastern spiritual practices.
The aim is not to teach spiritual practices, but to teach techniques that have been practiced for thousands of years and have
been shown, via brain scan analysis, to have a direct effect on the functioning of the brain. This can be taught in individual
sessions or in group and is a key component in the Anger Management / Happiness groups.
